Opening Day for the MLB

Opening day is one of the most exciting events of the year for baseball. 1968 is the most recent year where opening day allowed every single team in Major League Baseball to play on the said day. This is something that the MLB hopes to accomplish this year as opening day approaches for the 2021 season. Opening day this year is scheduled for April 1st starting the day off in New York with the Yankees and Toronto, while Detroit hosts Cleveland. There are 15 scheduled games for the 1st of April.

There has been a whirlwind of speculations about allowing fans into stadiums for opening day and throughout the season. The CDC approved that the Rockies at Coors field are allowed 25% capacity which allows them to host 12,500 fans into the stadium. This is very exciting news considering the recent and past events that have been affected by COVID and not allowing fans into stadiums. So I for one hope to be cheering on the Rockies as they take on the Cubs for opening day!
